Methodology

What the record tells you. And where it stops.

Trust starts with knowing how evidence was obtained. Here is how a public source becomes part of your Scoutmark work, and where the retained record ends.

Source selection

A free scan reads a website’s public navigation and sitemaps and recommends pages to monitor, with a category and a reason for each. You decide which sources to monitor. A recommendation is a proposed source, not a detected change, and a scan cannot show what changed before it ran.

A scan fetches public pages only: private and reserved network addresses are rejected before every request and redirect.

First capture

Monitoring starts with a successful first capture of each source in your workspace. That capture is retained as the reference for later comparisons and appears in Market baseline. Scoutmark cannot reconstruct changes from before it, and a failed first capture does not establish a usable baseline. A public scan is not that starting point: fresh baselines are captured after you start monitoring your selected sources.

A first capture can support sales guidance and report preparation before a change is detected. Analyst requires retained changes within the selected scope and period.

Scheduled checks

Each source has a configured check frequency, subject to plan allowances. Monitoring is scheduled, not instantaneous. Some pages resist capture or return errors; check history and source health distinguish failed checks from successful ones, and a failed check is not evidence that content was removed.

Retained changes

Hash and diff checks set aside unchanged content before analysis. A meaningful difference is retained as a change in Changes, with its source and the text that was added or removed. Review that exact evidence alongside any generated summary; a summary may need correction or interpretation.

Analysis limits

Briefings and Analyst work from retained Scoutmark evidence, not open web research. A finding is bounded by its sources, time window and stated limitations, and generated interpretation is labeled as generated. No conclusion about an unmonitored page follows from the absence of retained changes.

Human responses

A change records what differed. Your team decides whether to respond with sales guidance, a report or a formal Decision, who owns the response, and what needs approval. Approval applies to a specific saved revision. Scoutmark supports the work; it does not execute your business decision.

AI drafts are interpretation, not evidence. Every drafted statement cites the captured source it relies on, and nothing drafted is shared until a person saves and approves it (or, for reports, reviews and publishes it).

Delivered versions

Published reports and Client value reviews are fixed at publication, so a recipient reads the version that was delivered. Shared links and client portals follow their existing access and revocation rules. Opening a report is recorded separately from an acknowledgment or a follow-up request, and neither is a business outcome.

Reported outcomes

Financial amounts and impact reviews contain human-reported information. Evidence scores and usefulness feedback help describe the work, but they are not independently established return on investment or detector accuracy.
